Redevelopment Sites

3930 West 49-1/2 Street – This 0.37-acre parcel was purchased by the Edina Housing and Redevelopment Authority in 2013 with the goal of expanding public parking options at 50th & France. The preferred outcome for the site is new street-level commercial space with public parking above or below. The site has been razed and received a No Further Remediation letter from MPCA in May 2014. Redevelopment is anticipated to be pursued through a competitive Request for Proposals (RFP) process in late summer 2016. Any action will require discussion and approval by the City Council and HRA.

4416 Valley View Road – This 0.25-acre commercial site is owned by the City of Edina. It was formerly occupied by a gas station and truck rental facility. While the buildings have been razed, there may be residual contamination left behind. In 2015, the City and neighborhood prepared a small area plan for this neighborhood commercial district. The approved Wooddale Valley View Plan includes alternative redevelopment concepts for the 4416 site that include: flex commercial space, rowhouses, or apartments. The plan recognizes that neighboring parcels (under private ownership) could be included to create a development opportunity with greater potential for success and positive change for the neighborhood.

The City of Edina and Edina Housing and Redevelopment Authority issued a Request for Proposal for the site in July 2016. Responses will be evaluated in early fall 2016. Any action will require discussion and approval by the City Council and HRA.
