Grandview Small Area Plan Process

After over 50 years of service, the Edina Public Works building on Eden Avenue near Highway 100 was abandoned when the City moved into a new facility. Recognizing the future use of the 3.3-acre site would have a big impact on how the entire Grandview District develops in the future, the City Council authorized a visioning process to guide future development of the area.

The intensive, six-week-long process, led by 28 community members, produced seven Guiding Principles, which were approved by the City Council. The full report delivered to the City Council and documentation of the 2010 process in available online.

 

With the help of a grant from the Metropolitan Council, the City then developed a Small Area Plan for the Grandview District. This second phase of the planning process was community-led by a Steering Committee made up of about 50 representatives from Edina's various Boards and Commissions, property and business owners from the Grandview District, a representative from Edina Public Schools and many interested residents. A nine-member Executive Committee made up of members of the Steering Committee provided direction between monthly meetings.
