Board of Appeal & Equalization

The Board of Appeal & Equalization is comprised of five citizen members appointed by the mayor and approved by the city council.

The purpose of this Board is to provide a fair and objective forum for property owners to appeal their property valuation or classification. The Board has the authority to decrease, sustain or increase the market value of a property.

2016 Assessing Board of Appeal & Equalization Meeting:

Edina Board of Appeal and Equalization will meet on 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2016 in the Council Chambers, Edina City Hall, 4801 West 50th St, Edina, MN 55424. Property owners are encouraged to call the Assessing Office at 952-826-0365 as soon as possible if they have questions regarding the 2016 Notice of Valuation and Classification, if you want additional information regarding the notice, or disagree with the 2016 value.

Applications to appear at the Board of Appeal and Equalization are requested by 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2016 and are obtained by speaking to the appraiser for your area. Property owners may appear at the Board of Appeal and Equalization without having filled out an application on a walk-in basis to be heard after those who have filed applications.

It is preferable to have discussed your concerns with the appraiser for your area and, if unable to come to an agreement, request an application from the appraiser for the Board of Appeal and Equalization and have it to the Assessing Office no later than 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2016.
