Voting - Exercise Your Right
The City Clerk’s and elections office is available to answer your questions about voter registration, absentee voting and elections. The City Clerk administers city, state and federal elections.
Minnesota's 2016 Precinct Caucuses - March 1, 2016
Minnesota’s two major political parties will hold precinct caucuses on March 1, 2016. The major parties are the Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) and Republican parties.

Primary Election – Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016 (Polls open - 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
Pre-registration deadline – Tuesday, July 19, 2016

General Election – Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016 (Polls open - 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
Pre-registration deadline –Tuesday, October 18, 2016
The 2016 elections will include various federal, state, county, judicial and local offices.
Municipal Election
In conjunction with the State General Election, Edina will hold its municipal election Nov. 8, 2016. Edina voters will elect their Mayor and two Council members at the November General Election. Terms for these Council positions are four years beginning Jan.1, 2017 and ending Dec. 31, 2020.
People interested in running for office in Edina must file an affidavit of candidacy. The filing period will be Aug. 2, 2016 to Aug. 16, 2016.
To file for office, an individual must meet the following requirements:
• Candidate must be an eligible voter.
• Is, or will be on assuming the office, 21 years of age or more.
• Maintained residence in the district from which the candidate seeks election for 30 days before the general election.
Candidates must file an Affidavit of Candidacy and pay a $5 filing fee with the City Clerk's office at City Hall,4801 West 50th Street, Edina, MN 55424. Office hours are 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
