City Seeks Volunteer Firefighters

Edina, Minn., June 12, 2015 – In addition to regular full-time Paramedic/ Firefighters, the Edina Fire-Rescue & Inspections Department utilizes the skills of several Paid-On-Call (volunteer) Firefighters. The Department is looking for additional members to add to the team of volunteers.

“We are looking for people who are willing and able make a long-term commitment to the Fire Department,” said Assistant Fire Chief Darrell Todd. “Being a volunteer firefighter requires a significant amount of initial training. After that, there are three drill nights per month, scheduled duty shifts and unscheduled calls to report to the Station.”

An orientation meeting will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at Fire Station 1, 6250 Tracy Ave., to explain how volunteer firefighters are utilized and the time commitment for training and emergency calls. The meeting is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended for applicants and their families.

Applications for Paid-On-Call Firefighters are due 4:30 p.m. Friday, July 10.
