City receives five communications awards from MAGC

Edina, Minn., May 19, 2015 – The Minnesota Association of Government Communicators (MAGC) on May 14 presented the City of Edina with five awards for work completed in 2014.

The City was presented an Award of Merit and four first-place Awards of Excellence in the 33rd-annual Northern Lights Awards competition.

The City’s communications plan for last summer’s construction project on France Avenue received an Award of Merit in the “plans” category. Designed by former Graphic Designer Kyril Negoda, the illustration accompanying the communications materials received an Award of Excellence and was one of nine “Best of Show” nominees, representing the best in Minnesota government communications.

Also receiving Awards of Excellence were the City’s social media efforts; website for City of Edina employees, Edinet; and “Public Art Profiles,” a short program highlighting public art in the community and the artists behind the pieces. “Public Art Profiles” was also nominated for “Best of Show.”

“The Communications & Technology Services Department is very honored to receive these awards from our peers,” said Director Jennifer Bennerotte. “From electronic communication like websites, social media and video to graphic design and planning, these awards show our team’s commitment to providing the best communication possible, no matter the platform.”

The MAGC awards were presented at a reception at the Brooklyn Park Community Center in Brooklyn Park.
