Edina Senior Wellness Fair to be held April 23

Edina, Minn., April 9, 2015 – Together with the Edina Senior Center, the Edina Police and Fire departments will host a Senior Wellness Fair 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 23 at Hughes Pavilion at Centennial Lakes Park, 7499 France Ave. S.

“Seniors and their family members are encouraged to attend,” said Fire Lt. Todd Porthan, who is spearheading the event. “It’s an excellent way to learn about various topics that have a strong impact on people 55 and older.”

Doors will open at 8 a.m. for registrants to check-in and visit with vendors. Mayor Jim Hovland will give a short introduction followed by a presentation about fire and injury prevention by the Edina Fire Department. A senior fitness expert and Walgreens licensed pharmacist will present next about wellness, fitness, prescriptions and vitamins. The Edina Police Department will round out the morning with a presentation about when to call 9-1-1, identity theft and fraud protection. The event will end with a hot lunch catered by Whole Foods.

The cost has been reduced to $5 and the event is limited to 75 participants. There is free parking at Centennial Lakes Park.
