SWTV To Host Workshop Series

Edina, Minn., Oct. 5, 2016 – To educate current public and education access producers and develop new ones, the City of Edina and the Southwest Suburban Cable Commission are offering a free eight-part workshop series on the process of video production.

Community TV Administrator Dietrich Nissen will guide the workshops starting Nov. 3, at the Edina Senior Center, 5280 Grandview Square. Each workshop will last for two hours and include time to expand on ideas or ask questions. There will also be time to connect with other local video producers.

Each workshop is aimed at addressing a different part of the video production process:

  • Workshop 1: SWTV and the Concept of Public Cable Television
  • Workshop 2: Steps And Tools To Plan A Show
  • Workshop 3: Reviewing Different Types Of Video Projects And How Copyright Law Works
  • Workshop 4: Videography Theories And Composition
  • Workshop 5: The Growing Variety of Video Production Equipment And Their Use In Production
  • Workshop 6: Capturing Sound And Its Importance During Video Production
  • Workshop 7: Editing Video and Post-Production Resources
  • Workshop 8: Reviewing Our Work And Analyzing Media


Although participants are encouraged to attend all eight workshops, each workshop may be attended individually. All workshops must be registered for individually. At this time, the workshops are only open to residents of Edina, Eden Prairie, Richfield, Minnetonka and Hopkins. Participation is limited to 18 residents per class.
