Public invited to Edina Urban Vision Symposium

Edina, Minn., Sept. 14, 2016 – The City of Edina invites residents to hear a free presentation on urban development from Strong Towns founder Charles Marohn.

The second-annual Edina Urban Vision Symposium presentation will be held 8 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Braemar Golf Course, 6364 John Harris Drive. Marohn started the “Strong Towns” blog in 2008. It is now a national media nonprofit whose content reaches tens of thousands of readers and listeners every month. The mission of Strong Towns is to support a model of development that allows America’s cities, towns and neighborhoods to become financially strong and resilient. Marohn seeks to help communities find rational ways to response to the complex problems of America’s cities, towns and neighborhoods.

Following the presentation, Marohn will lead driving and/or walking tours with small groups. The public may watch the tours via Facebook Live at Facebook.com/EdinaMN. The Southdale tour will begin around 11 a.m. Tours will be held at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. in the Grandview and 50th & France commercial districts, respectively.

Marohn will wrap up the day with a planning session with residents and community leaders. The session will be held 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Edina Senior Center, 5280 Grandview Square.
