Edina TV is Now on CenturyLink Prism TV
Edina, Minn., Aug. 1, 2016 – Edina TV and Southwest Community Television (SWTV) are now available to CenturyLink Prism TV subscribers in Edina.
On Dec. 15, 2015, the Edina City Council approved a franchise agreement with CenturyLink that gave Edina residents an alternative to Comcast, which has been Edina’s only cable provider for years. CenturyLink began rolling out Prism TV, its new fiber-optic based television service, to areas of Edina. On July 21, the government and public access channels that serve Edina residents were added to the company’s channel lineup, and the education access channel will be added soon.
Edina TV is the City’s award-winning government access channel. It provides residents informative content such as meetings of the Edina City Council and its advisory boards and commissions, the news program “Agenda: Edina,” and other original programming highlighting public safety and City events and operations. Edina TV is available on Prism TV in standard definition on channel 236 and in high definition on channel 1236.
SWTV consists of public and education access channels, offering residents and schools an opportunity to broadcast content that they create. Residents with Prism TV can now view the public access channel on channel 8111, and will soon be able to view the education access channel on channel 8110. Prism TV also offers a unique “mosaic” channel, which displays all of the public, education and government channels in the metro area on one interactive channel. This “mosaic” channel is available on channel 26.
“Southwest Television is excited to be able to air the content of local producers on both CenturyLink Prism and Xfinity by Comcast,” said Community Television Administrator Dietrich Nissen, who has been working with CenturyLink to launch the public, education and government channels. “Having two different cable providers will allow our producers to share their content with a wider audience and give residents another way to view SWTV.”
Residents who are interested in Prism TV should visit, www.centurylink.com, to determine if the service is available in their neighborhood.
