City Calls for Human Services Proposals for 2016-2017 Funding

Edina, Minn., Aug. 13, 2015 – The City of Edina’s Human Services Task Force are seeking proposals for 2016-2017 human services funding. The task force, made up of members of Edina’s advisory boards and commissions, will make recommendations on human services funding to the Edina City Council.

This funding is open to non-profit human services agencies and organizations that service Edina residents. Effective with this funding cycle, the City will fund the selected organizations for two years. Organizations need not be based in Edina, but their service area must include Edina residents. Previous recipients have included VEAP and Conflict Resolution Minnesota.

Human services providers may submit proposals for 2016-2017 funding of their services, indicating how they intend to meet the needs of Edina residents. Applicants will be asked to present short presentations supporting their funding requests at a meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21. At the meeting, applicants will introduce their organizations and briefly share how they serve the Edina population, how the requested funds will be spent and what other sources of funding the organization expects to receive.

“The City of Edina is very excited about this program,” said Project Coordinator MJ Lamon. “It’s an excellent chance for the City to provide support to organizations that in turn provide so much support and assistance to Edina community members.”
